IMPROVE COMMUNICATIONS, EASE ADMIN HEADACHES, INCREASE COMMUNITY SPIRIT AND RAISE FUNDS FOR YOUR ASSOCIATION TODAY. Current Number of Caring Community Members: 3,489 Since 1999, we have provided a VERY affordable, very powerful, interactive neighborhood or community website for a fraction of the cost of most website providers that is geared to VOLUNTEER organizations likes civic associations, parent teacher associations (PTAs), and community pools. The site is actually a fully functional site located within a portal. As a result, the site allows you to share information ONLY with your community, OR across the entire metro DC area via the portal. This creates powerful coalitions that can share resources to address various issues or needs. For example, several neighborhoods can contribute or share information on a proposed road through an area, keeping community residents in the loop or organizing to make changes. PTA groups can work on an issue on their own site, and then get other PTAs across the metro region to share successes or mobilize volunteers. Neighborhood and PTA Leaders: Find Officers in Other Communities! Join the list! Our goal is to link together as many geographically-oriented volunteer groups as possible and connect them to local resources. Other assets such as events, guides, useful links, consumer ratings, classifieds and others are also shared resources across the portal. Users can decide on their own what audience they feel comfortable addressing in most sections, from only their community to all users. These assets also help bring residents to the community site much more often than a standalone site. The site is password protected and lets you choose to verify new users. This results in a high quality base of users interested in community affairs. The site also has separate user types for residents, officers, and financial managers or treasurers, with multiple protections for member data. No technical experience is needed as the websites are easy to use and manage, while still providing a lot of flexibility for advanced users. Powerful and easy to use tools for managing membership and producing directories are also included. As the network grows we are also making officer information (at his/her option) available to select government agencies (such as zoning and security) to make sure communities can be informed of important changes. As we have done throughout our history, we continue to constantly add new functionality and features. This year we will improve our web editor to make it even easier to use and available to all browsers; improve our events page to include more events; improve digital picture uploading and sharing; and add several PTA modules. In 2006, we added CivicSearch to allow association officers to search all neighborhoods for in the portal for content that may help them with issues and ideas; PermitPost which gives permit notification when someone pulls a permit near you (Montgomery County); an interactive news page that allows users to post by geographic region; integration tags that allow existing sites hosted on our servers to incorporate our powerful functionality into their look and feel, along wth many other refinements. Finally, we are one of the few, if not only, community website provider that works for the community by negotiating discounts for services through our Group Buys, and donating part of our revenues to local groups. Your site can be up in minutes with all these tools at your fingertips.
Where can you:
The answer is: Your Community Web Site. How to get a site: Community Web offers web sites to neighborhoods and their associations for $50/year, including domain name and $75/year for PTAs. We ask is that the association designate an editor(s) and make residents aware of the site. There is NO advertising on your private site or in your email, and access to the portal where there are some text listings can be restricted. Furthermore, you may choose the My Community page as the start page. We attempt to make money mainly by keeping a portion of what we save your residents, and we return a portion of that to the community via the association. Just email us at jnelson at communitywebinc dot com, or call us at 301-263-9821, and we can have your site up in no time. Click here for a sample site.
